Barbar Band
Barbar Band is a collaboration between North Bay musicians Karine Vann and Khatchadour Khatchadourian, and has featured Bay area musicians, such as drummer Aaron Kierball. The word բառբար, or “barbar” in English, is the Armenian word for “dialect.” This project fuses the musical dialects of traditional and regional folk musical styles of Armenia with Western jazz and classical to deliver new takes on ancient melodies.
