ARK BRIDGE PROJECT
"Developing tourism in Armenia from the bottom up."
THE IDEA
Syunik is the southernmost province of Armenia, which borders Iran and is home to some of Armenia’s most diverse natural species, the largest forest in the entire country, one of Armenia’s most iconic attractions and an incredibly unique role in Armenian history. Yet, despite all this, the statistics say it loud and clear: Syunik is, for the most part, neglected by the modern tourist. Of the million travelers that visited Armenia in 2015, less than 1% actually made the journey that far south. In the spring of 2016, ARK Armenia, an NGO based in Kapan, Syunik's capital, launched the ARK Bridge Project, an initiative to develop a strategic hiking trail, linking rural communities to important touristic landmarks and building eco camps along the trail. I joined their team as Creative Director of this successful campaign, which reached 106% of its crowdfunding goal.
My contributions focused on helping the organization reach new audiences through creative and sustainable branding. I provided services like content writing, graphic design, and photography to create an image and story for their organization that would last, even after the campaign ended.
